First stones

Built to a fighter’s standard. If you can handle that, you can carry anything else.

These are the Academy’s first courses: the foundation we build everything else on.

The standard is set to a fighter’s level, because a fighter can least afford mistakes. That doesn’t mean the courses are only for fighters. The power behind a throw comes from the same hip that lifts a child in the morning and then sits in a chair for eight hours. A hockey player, a runner, someone who’s had knee surgery and someone whose back hurts after a day at a desk all work with the same body, just under different loads. We don’t lower the standard for anyone. You’ll find the entry level listed with each course, and you’ll get out exactly what you put in.

01

Biomechanics of Combat

An online course in movement biomechanics for martial arts and combat sports

Built by Ján Samuel Lupták + Martin Bosý

Most fighters train like barbarians, without understanding. You’ll learn where power in the body really comes from.

More about the course

Martin Bosý isn’t the kind of coach who counts sets. He takes movement apart down to the physiology: how the body generates force, how it holds rhythm, how it connects things that seem unrelated. He came out of Fighting Monkey, co-led the Grappling Development project, coaches freestyle wrestling professionally under Jozef Lohyňa and has practiced Tai Ki Kung for years. He also holds a master’s degree in physiology and ethology. Today he’s one of the main coaches on our MMA team.

“He turned my whole understanding of fighting upside down. He sees connections where others see only separate things. To me, he’s Gandalf.”Ján Samuel Lupták
02

Body Without the Brakes

An online course in rehabilitation, mobility and injury prevention

Built by Ján Samuel Lupták + Denis Freudenfeld

The fastest way to add power is to stop losing it.

More about the course

Denis Freudenfeld is physiotherapist to Olympic champions Matej Tóth and Anastasiya Kuzmina, and he played a big part in their medal success. Many other Slovak Olympians have passed through his hands too. He has a whole range of physiotherapy certifications and methods behind him. He doesn’t work with Ján once in a while. They put in the work together every day: ACL rehab, clean movement under full load, getting rid of the places where the body loses power.

“In the world of physiotherapy, Denis is what Kuzmina was in biathlon: world-class. Unique and creative.”Ján Samuel Lupták

A Fighter’s Explosive Power

An online course in transferring power from weightlifting to combat and sports

Built by Ján Samuel Lupták + Rudolf Lukáč

A hard punch doesn’t start in the arm. It starts in the floor.

More about the course

Rudolf Lukáč spent fifteen years on the Slovak national weightlifting team and competed at the Olympic Games twice. For years he led strength and explosiveness training at the Dukla Military Sports Center (VŠC Dukla), went to three Olympics as a coach and was behind the success of Martin Tešovič, a world champion who lifted 190 kg in the snatch and 227 kg in the clean and jerk. Today he leads his own movement, Weightlifting For All, and runs the certified Bezpečné vzpieranie (safe weightlifting) brand. And a number that says it all about explosiveness: he’s over fifty and still gets 120 kg overhead.

“We’ve known each other for more than ten years. Rudo is strength and calm at once. He lifts like no one else, and he’s got tried-and-tested things for the body, performance and the head that you won’t find anywhere else.”Ján Samuel Lupták

Ground, Spine, Inside and Combat

An online course in working with the ground, the spine, the inside and combat

Built by Ján Samuel Lupták + Marek Vrťo

Movement no one can read, because it doesn’t start where they expect it.

More about the course

Marek Vrťo approaches movement from the other side, from the inside. He founded Škola pohybu Detva (a movement school in Detva), has spent years studying and teaching DaoYin (the Internal Intent school, under Roy Jenzen and the Slovak teacher Juraj Jaseň), and practices classical Chinese medicine.

“For the fourth year now, he’s been rebuilding my movement from the inside. He connects the outer and the inner like almost nobody can. What Ido Portal did for McGregor, Marek is doing for my body.”Ján Samuel Lupták

Foundation stones

This is the start. Over time we’ll add more series with more experts, each building on the same foundation.

Let’s be precise

What these courses are not.

It’s not a certificate. We don’t give one. This is training, not a piece of paper for the wall.

It’s not one-on-one training. The course is recorded. One-on-one coaching is possible by arrangement. Write to us.

It’s not medical or physiotherapy care. If you have an acute injury, see a doctor first.

It’s not a miracle in a week. It’s honest work. But with people who know the right order to do it in.

FAQ

Is Ján Samuel Lupták a qualified coach?

Yes. Ján is a professional MMA fighter and a qualified coach: he has a bachelor’s degree in coaching and physical education teaching, and he’s a level 4 judo coach and a level 1 conditioning coach (Slovak coaching qualifications).

Why pay for a course when everything is free on YouTube?

YouTube has hundreds of hours of contradictions. This is one subject, in order from the foundations to the top, from someone who actually knows it.

Do I have to be an advanced fighter?

It depends on the course. The entry level is listed for each one. Neither Body Without the Brakes nor Ground, Spine, Inside and Combat requires any experience. The second is an introduction to working with your own body on the ground. Biomechanics of Combat assumes you train a combat sport at least once a week. A Fighter’s Explosive Power expects you to have six months of strength training behind you.
